As we learned under V it’s about us making a choice, but once we choose we do not do the work, God does. We ask God to work on the defects we want removed.

The fact is we are all destined for Hell. God does not send us there. That is already our destination. What God does is throw us a hand to grab on to. Choosing God as king is grabbing the hand. And working out sanctification is holding on till your out. God went to a lot of work to give us that hand and He does not want us to fail. He will do the work if we keep choosing him and asking for His help. We start by asking for help with what we know is wrong.

Our Bible verse for I is Proverbs 16:9 “In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps”. Whether we chose God or not he is Lord of all and in control. Once we have chosen to be his even though he gives our free will He has promised to finish the work he started in us if we just keep following, choosing Him, and His way.

C The C in our acrostic stands for: Change your mind

In Romans 12:2 we are told, ”Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what “God’s will is----His good, pleasing and perfect will.” This is telling us we can no longer stay the same. In fact our very way of thinking will change. But there is also another important clue in this verse we must listen too. It says we are to test. This is saying that things that come to us will not always be from God. AS part of helping us we will have the ability to know the right way to go. Can it be that easy? No, satan is the great liar. He will not make it easy for us but we are given another clue, good and pleasing. God’s will is good and pleasing so if we can determine if an action is both good and pleasing we will know the correct path to choose. To learn what is good we read our Bibles daily, go to church when we can, do Bible studies, and generally seek after the Lord with all our heart. Once we have learned what is good we change what we do. The more we know God. The more we know how good God is. The more we experience the pleasure of doing things His way, the more we want to do it His way. God puts a desire in our hearts. We change out of want to instead of have to.

T We are half way through and T is next. It stands for: Turn over character defects

Turning over these defects means we are no longer in control. We are giving that authority to God. Yes I know he always has the authority but God being the master of humility never takes away the free will he gave us. Not until the day of wrath anyway. The best definition of humility I have read is that it is confidence properly placed. We have tried and failed. Now we become humble and properly place our confidence in God and His ability to help us.

That means that when we become aware of things we are doing wrong we listen to what God says. We become humble and try as best we can to do it His way. When we do this James 4:10 says”humble yourselves before the Lord,….He will lift you up.” We do not stand alone even if it looks at times like we are alone.

O We have now come to O which stands for: One day at a Time

You can get fast food. You can get high speed internet. You can do instant messaging. We live in a world of fast paste gotta have it now mentality, but it is simply impossible to get a quick fix on or character defects. It took us time to get to where we are at and it will take us time to heal. And we heal one day at a time. We live in the Now. We can not live in the past with satan constantly reminding us of what we did. What’s done is done and we have the scars and consequences of those actions. Nor should we live in the future, because we are not there yet. Living in the future brings worry or takes our focus off of recovery and opens a door for satan to jump back in. No, we again choose to take the advice of our loving God as he tells in Matthew 6:34 “So don,t be anxious about tomorrow, God will tale care of your tomorrow too. Live one day at a time.”

R The letter R in our acrostic stands for: Recovery is a Process

Our verse for this letter is Philippians dss1:6 which states “and I am sure that God who began a good work within you will keep right on helping you grow in his grace until His task within you Is finally finished on that day when Jesus Christ returns”. This is a process which will not be complete until He comes again. We do not get to rest. But neither do we have to do it all at once. Do not try to complete the whole list of defects all at once. Rather taking one day at a time, we ask God to work in correcting one defect at a time. Ask His help in picking the most important and work your way down.

Personally I have a different set of verses I feel address this subject:

2Pe 1:3 God's divine power has given us everything we need for life and for godliness. This power was given to us through knowledge of the one who called us by his own glory and integrity.

2Pe 1:4 Through his glory and integrity he has given us his promises that are of the highest value. Through these promises you will share in the divine nature because you have escaped the corruption that sinful desires cause in the world.

2Pe 1:5  Because of this, make every effort to add integrity to your faith; and to integrity add knowledge;

2Pe 1:6  to knowledge add self-control; to self-control add endurance; to endurance add godliness;

2Pe 1:7 to godliness add Christian affection; and to Christian affection add love.

2Pe 1:8 If you have these qualities and they are increasing, it demonstrates that your knowledge about our Lord Jesus Christ is living and productive.

2Pe 1:9 If these qualities aren't present in your life, you're shortsighted and have forgotten that you were cleansed from your past sins.

2Pe 1:10 Therefore, brothers and sisters, use more effort to make God's calling and choosing of you secure. If you keep doing this, you will never fall away.

I will Let these verses speak for themselves.

Y Last we come to the letter Y which stands for: You must choose to change

We will open up with the verse for this James 4:6-8 “Gos gives strength to the humble,….so give yourselves humbly to God. Resist the Devil and he will flee from you. And when you draw close to God, God will draw close to you”. Notice that it says we must resist. There will be a period of time In which we are struggling. It reminds of the war movies where against unbearable odds the hero is to hold until relieved.

Well, we are the reluctant hero’s and we are being told to hold until relieved. God promises that he will not give us more than we can bear. Sometimes it seems different, but those are satans lies bombarding us from all directions telling us we can not do what God has said we can. So in the end it is about you. God gave you free will and its up to you to choose to hold, believe god instead of satan. The reward is the fruit of the spirit, joy peace etc. you know.

What is sexual sin

http://www.yourwallsolutions.com/1/post/2011/11/what-is-sexual-sin.html

http://www.yourwallsolutions.com/1/post/2011/11/what-is-sexual-sin.html#comments

Uncategorized

_ What is Sexual Sin? A question has come up that I feel that I must address. I have heard this before but this time it affect me in a more personal way. Can what you are doing possibly work if it is not the original twelve step program. There is on the surface reason for the question but if you look deeper at the question it does present a more pressing problem for Christians. Upon further reflection the question even violates the steps of the twelve step program itself. First I going to post copies of the steps of three organizations so you all have reference to what we are disusing.

First up is Alcoholics Anonymous

Service Material from the General Service Office

THE TWELVE STEPS OF ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS

1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol—that our lives had become

unmanageable.

2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to

sanity.

3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we

understood Him.

4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature

of our wrongs.

6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.

7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.

8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make

amends to them all.

9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do

so would injure them or others.

10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly

admitted it.

11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with

God, as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us

and the power to carry that out.

12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to

carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our

affairs.

Next I post Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recovery 12 Steps Twelve Steps and Their Biblical Comparisons 1

We admitted we were powerless over our addictions and compulsive behaviors, that our lives had become unmanageable. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. Romans 7:18

2

We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. Philippians 2:13

3

We made a decision to turn our lives and our wills over to the care of God. Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship. Romans 12:1

4

We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord. Lamentations 3:40

5

We admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. James 5:16

6

We were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. James 4:10

7

We humbly asked Him to remove all our shortcomings. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

8

We made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all. Do to others as you would have them do to you. Luke 6:31

9

We made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:23-24

10

We continue to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it. So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall! 1 Corinthians 10:12

11

We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us, and power to carry that out. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly. Colossians 3:16

12

Having had a spiritual experience as the result of these steps, we try to carry this message to others and to practice these principles in all our affairs. Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore them gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted.

Last I post L.I.F.E. Priciples

Seven Principles for L.I.F.E. Following are the principles we follow as a path for healing our sexual woundedness, sin, and addiction:

1. We admit that we have absolutely no control of our lives. Sexual sin has become unmanageable.

2. We believe in God, accept the grace offered through His Son, Jesus Christ, and surrender our lives and our wills to Him on a daily basis.

3. We make a list of our sins and weaknesses and confess those to a person of spiritual authority.

4. We seek accountability and to build our character as children of God.

5. We explore the damage we have done, accept responsibility, and make amends for our wrongs.

6. In fellowship with others we develop honest, intimate relationships, where we celebrate our progress and continue to address our weaknesses.

7. As we live in sexual integrity, we carry the message of Christ’s healing to those who still struggle, and we pursue a vision of God’s purpose for our lives.

Now that we have posted the steps its time to continue. I said earlier that I thought their might be a conflict of principle. Here is what I mean. I each of the group statements we see in the first two steps, first admitting that we are helpless to control our own thoughts and actions, and second admitting either God or some form of higher power. In later steps we are told to ask and rely on this God or higher power to aid us in our recovery. When we believe that our healing can only be achieved through the program that has helped us and that no other program has merit we have given the program the authority of the higher power or God. This might work in an AA program where the individual determines that his or her higher power is but in the other two Christian based programs it can not work. Evan in the AA program if the a person has determined that on a higher power other than the program it sets up doubt in the ability of the power a person is asking for help.

The real ability of any program to help lies in its ability to bring people into a belief structure opposed to their old ways of thinking. Believe it or not there is psychology behind how these programs work. Further more it is the specifics of psychological principles as outlined in the Bible. AA was founded on biblical principles and the broadened to help or invite those who were not Christian to a place to get help. It is well documented that the founder was kicked out of his church for this.

While AA has had some success only a small percentage of those being helped achieve lasting results. A one time AA member saw the program and as a Christian based program that had been highjacked and no longer properly functioning. This is not a quote but rather my impression of what I have learned about the start of Celebrate Recovery and its start. While in some ways I believe this to be true I still believe and I think that those who started the latter believe that many of the Biblical principles are still at work in the AA program. I believe that a principle of the Bible works for all not just believers. Many rich people who do not believe in Jesus give to charities and are rewarded according to the precepts as recorded in the Bible. Like wise following recovery principles such as forgiveness and confession will also reap their Biblical result.

Celebrate Recovery has a much better track record than AA. Why would this be? I believe it is the extra benefit of honoring God as the trinity. This allows for the relationship of Father God and adopted son. God can then help us in ways he could not before and the steps of reliance on him become more than just words. Belief cam cause us to change our behaviors. But as a Christian we know that there is more to this world than what can be seen felt and measured. Satan and his forces of evil are very real and want nothing more than to see us fall again. This demon knows all our weaknesses and will constantly put temptations in our paths. With a relationship with God we have some protection from this spiritual onslaught. Focus on the Bible is what makes Celebrate different than AA. The steps are the same except for wording that reflects this.

On to the L.I.F.E program while it appears to have eliminated some of the steps all it really did is combine a few. The creator of the L.I.F.E. Program was also involved with a twelve step program at one time. I believe it was SA. A twelve step program designed just for those who suffer from the various forms of sexual addiction. Evan out side the Church there was a realization that sexual addiction required something a little different. Dr. Laaser saw that as groups were meeting and new members were coming those who came toward the beginning of round of step teaching had to wait many weeks before it got back to the beginning so they could start at the beginning. He decided to develop this system whereby there was a much smaller wait in cycling the principles. Seven principle with three teaching lessons each. Each seven weeks starts fresh but members can focus on their teaching in the small group time and the level they are at in their recovery. It is also more than just meetings as workbooks and home work are part of the learning process. In reality all of the twelve steps of the other two programs are their either combined into a principle or in the homework assignment of one of the lessons.

In the end they are all similar. They all help as many people as they can. But in the end it all boils down to believing in a life style with a heart that will not allow a person to go back to old hurtful habits. For the Christian that means having a heart to do things Jesus would have you do. For others this means living abetter life with fewer problems. For the Christian it means the difference between eternity in heaven or hell. But then the higher the stakes the more the motivation to change. Any program we may participate in is just a tool to help us get to those beliefs. It is the ability to believe that is important no matter how we get to the belief. A program in itself can not make a person believe. They merely help a person see the need for change and some tools to accomplish changing. As a pastor I have had the chance to evangelize a time or two. On one occasion a gentleman started yelling at me, I don't need your brain washing. It occurred to me he was right. That was just what we were trying to do as Christians. Wash away wrong patterns of thinking and replace them with ways of thinking in alignment with what the Bible teaches.

time to thank God

http://www.yourwallsolutions.com/1/post/2011/06/time-to-thank-god.html

http://www.yourwallsolutions.com/1/post/2011/06/time-to-thank-god.html#comments

Uncategorized

Dear friends and followers I take a moment to write down a few thoughts. This is bot hard and exciting because I am doing so with a new keyboard. It is an ergonomic keyboard. It is funny how I have teased my wife about her need to have one of these. She did have a nice one but when her father gave her the Imac her keyboard would not transfer. She has been using a standard keyboard for a few weeks now. I had a wireless keyboard I had purchased with Christmas money but it was the cheappy kind and really small. Any ways with the new computer for the wife we hooked up her old media center to the TV and we use that for many of our media needs. Got rid of the cd player, and dvd player and well you get the Idea. The problem was that the keyboard was wired along with the mouse, and I was not willing to give up my wireless system.

I also do a lot of study for being a Pastor and leadership. Well By the grace of God the church I am attending has a library for pastors on these things and as a courtesy to me they are allowing me to use it until God gives me a home church. Many of the materials old such as vcr tapes. I needed a way to run my vcr and I wanted it in my office instead of in the living room so I could study and not bother my wife. I had an old Sony media center but then I had two computers set up so I could do this. It was cumbersome to say the least.

Well today I went up to the in laws to see if they needed help with their rummage sale. Instead of doing any good for them I wound up being the recipient as our Great God once again showed he could meet our needs in ways we never imagined. My Father in laws computer started acting up and it gave him reason to buy a new one. He gave me his old 25 inch flats screen monitor and wireless keyboard and mouse. No it is not the one that works with Mac bu tit is ergonomic. I put the old wireless system on the living room computer which was on our things to get list. I was also able to get rid of the Sony because the new monitor was cable ready to accept the vcr. I had to move a few things but the work is more than worth the new integration.

I just finished testing and all works fine. I can handle all my training needs in the office now from cassette tapes to mp3.no not blue ray. All my computers are at least five years old. I just thought as part of the testing process I would do a blog to test the keyboard and see if I was going to like an ergo thingy. The more I type and get used to it the more I understand how my wife like it so much. I am sure God will find a way to provide something for her. The point is we have been waiting to do it Gods way and He gave it to us before we were ready to get it for ourselves. Did I mention that my old monitor was going and not in good shape.

Well this will be all for now as I have to get back to finishing up the clean up from the mess I made rearranging things. This kind of work will truly be a pleasure.

Pastor Bob

Post Title.

http://www.yourwallsolutions.com/1/post/2011/06/post-title-click-and-type-to-edit.html

http://www.yourwallsolutions.com/1/post/2011/06/post-title-click-and-type-to-edit.html#comments

Uncategorized

   [...]

Thoughts on a TV Show

http://www.yourwallsolutions.com/1/post/2011/06/thoughts-on-a-tv-show.html

http://www.yourwallsolutions.com/1/post/2011/06/thoughts-on-a-tv-show.html#comments

Uncategorized

Hi every one, I was reading my newest copy of Christianity Today and came accross a great ad for a TV show for people just like us. It is called Pure Passion. I can not say just how good it is yet but it is very encouraging to know that the word is getting out there. we need to start promoting this as much as possible. Not untill our nation realizes just how damaging this addiction can be will they take it seriously. How many senators, congressman, and other politicians have to fallbefore we accept the fact that it is not just being a man but rather it is a trap. The substances of other addictions have been regulated for the good of our society and once upon a time so was sexual content on TV. But a greedy culture victimised the public in to thinking what was once unacceptble was a violation of their free speech so they could use the addictive nature of sexual images to sell more at greater profits. It seems even the most innocent programs on air today would not have been allowed on the air a few years back.
If one could make a case that the shows were bad it would be a small somthing to go on, but the fact is that they were so good many are still watched today. The networks are dying trying find shows to get ratings but as they stray father and farther from wholeness. ratings are getting worse and worse while scores of viewers switch the reruns of yesteryears more wholesome variety. Personally I welcome the older shows.
This is just one eaxmple of the degidtion and assult our nation has been under but it has been ahuge influence in the undermining of the reat of the nations culture.
          As Christians we know that
God will bless a nation that honors him in he same mnaor that He honors a riteous person. For far to long now the blessings our forefathers earned hve been eroding. If we do not get our act together soon America will have no blessing left.

Pastor Bob

introduction

http://www.yourwallsolutions.com/1/post/2011/05/introduction.html

http://www.yourwallsolutions.com/1/post/2011/05/introduction.html#comments

Uncategorized

Hi everybody,I am sorry this will be a short post but I am just now setting up this website so I am not taking a long time to write.
